Meet the Creator
Hi. I'm Julia.
I created Mighty Pen Designs right out of college in the hopes that I can own my own multifaceted business. I'd like to consider myself a jack of all trades- rather a jill of all trades. Books are my main love. I love reading them, reviewing them, gushing about them; but, I also want to be part of the production side. I spent some time in college learning InDesign and really enjoyed getting to put books together. I wrote my own student friendly guide to tackling InDesign. I walked away with my own tangible book with my name on it and that feeling was unexplainable. I want to help other authors get their books out there whether its on the production side or even just to help market.
I'm also a creative which means I grew up crafting and wanted to use that to make people smile. Stickers are some of my favorite things to collect, so I wanted to start designing and making my own. The first thing I started was a Redbubble, which is basically a type of print-on-demand. I make the design and upload it, and then can sell all sorts of items with that design on it. Almost instantly I was selling Bridgerton stickers during the craze of season 3 coming out. These stickers were actually officially licensed by Netflix! I mean how cool is that? Every single sale puts a smile on my face and the idea that my stickers are all over the world is so cool. While still in college, I did a lot of vinyl work on my Cricut. I've done shirts, hats, and sweatshirts for a local furniture restoration company. I've also custom made my friend so many birthday and Christmas gifts for all of her interests and fandoms.
More recently, as of the last few months of 2024, I opened up my Etsy. I've continued on the print-on-demand journey, and have sold custom post-it notes and wrapping paper. I hope you can find something on there that makes your special occasion even more special!
So where does that leave me now? Here, I guess. I wanted a hub to help connect all of my passions in one place. I've branched into making my own products. All various types of party favors and keepsakes - all fully customizable and catered to your needs. I add new types of services to my site all the time! If there is something you are looking for, reach out and I'd love to collaborate with you to see if we can make it come to life!
The possibilities are endless here at Mighty Pen Designs, and I don't want to limit myself! I hope you stick around and follow along on this journey. If you don't buy anything thats okay. Every like, comment, or share means everything to a small business!

My Experience
INDESIGN GUIDEBOOK

A Student's Guide to InDesign:
From the Basics to the Nitty Gritty
I wrote, edited, typeset, and printed my own InDesign guidebook my last semester of college!
As an English major, I took a class to learn how to do InDesign. What I found pretty quickly is how intricate and dense this program is for book production. There didn't seem to be a lot of cohesive or digestible tutorials or books on the program, so for my independent study I made one.
While InDesign can be used for a whole bunch of stuff, I focused on getting a manuscript into the program and getting a book out of it. I really feel I tackled at least a small part of the program- and came away from the experience with an actual physical book. Pretty cool if I do say so myself.
