Shot in the Dark written by Mary Dublin and Anne Kendsley is the first installment of an action packed urban fantasy series perfect for fans of Supernatural and Fern Gully. Our main protagonist is Sylvia, a feisty fairy who wants nothing more than to explore the world beyond her home. She adventures out despite the danger and encounters two monster hunters - Cliff and Jon, after Jon shots into her wing.

After recent disappearances, Sylvia and the boys form an unlikely team to uncover the truth. While Sylvia begins to discover that the legends about monsters hunters aren't entire true. The boys in turn learn that not everything supernatural is inherently evil.

I enjoyed the banter and the dynamics of our three main characters. A fairy and monster hunter make an unlikely pairing but I enjoyed every second of it. I can't wait to dive into book 2.
