Slipstream by Madge Maril, is a romance novel that follows documentarian Lilah Graywood as she teams up with racing driver Arthur Bianco for a whirlwind of revenge, storytelling, and new chances. After a brutal breakup with her fellow documentarian Max, Lilah is thrust into the world of Formula One. Arthur, faced with past traumas and crippling expectations, finds an unliking friendship turned more with Lilah as they create a film together. As they navigate the politics of the racing world, the two of them begin to find their own truths with each other.
The book has mental health representation! I enjoyed reading about Lilah's ADHD and how she's managed to cope and not let it define her. Arthur suffers from PTSD and panic attacks which we also get to understand more about in the latter half of the book.
Unfortunately, this book wasn't my favorite. I love Formula 1 romance, but it didn't hit as much as I wanted to. The first half of the book was really slow and then all of a sudden the characters were in love. It just wasn't completely natural. It was more "insta love."
I did like the fact that she was a documentarian, which is different to the other F1 romances I've read.
Ultimately, its a decent read and I'd recommend it to fellow F1 romance fans as a standalone.
Thank you NetGalley for the e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
