Samantha Sotto Yambao is one of those authors whose writing just sits with you long after you've finished the book. The Elsewhere Express is where you go on a daydream and never quite leave. Every element of this train is made up of dreams, thoughts, memories, hopes and regrets.

"You boarded it at the end of all your dreams at a quarter past your heaviest sigh. The train caught you when you floated away."

The story follows Raya and Q as they are both boarded at the same time which has never happened before, or so they think. We follow as they learn about the train, its mechanics and their individual and intertwined purpose.

This novel was breathtaking at every turn. I read it slowly just to take it all in. The Elsewhere Express, much like her other novel Water Moon, are magical realism done beautifully. I can't recommend them enough.

Easy 5 stars.

Thank you NetGalley and Del Rey for the e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
